Computer Clubs

The mere imparting of information is not education.
–Carter G. Woodson

An after-school computer club focusing on the production of a blog is an excellent way to introduce students to 21st century communication skills.

Example: JV Computer Club Blog (jvcomputerclub.wordpress.com)

Student blogs are guided online journals which emphasize reflective writing together with illustrations, and even the youngest students will recognize the power inherent in the ability to broadcast thoughts and opinions to the world.

Best of all, while  the deeper reflection associated with blogging can help to increase the reading and writing proficiency of students who are struggling in those areas, ALL students enjoy this activity and can work together happily producing the blog.
